Your essay must contain a clear thesis statement, an introduction paragraph, 3 body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph.  Each of your body paragraphs must contain a minimum of 2 quotes from the novel and/or film. Your spelling, grammar and overall mechanics will be graded on this assignment, so use Grammarly to check your spelling and grammar.

Informative Essay

Critically analyze the similarities and differences between the film version of The Joy Luck Club and the book. What is emphasized in the movie? What is altered or changed? What is absent? How do these emphasized, altered, or absent elements impact the plot, character development and/or themes?

Focus on three specific elements that are emphasized, altered or absent in the film version. Analyze in depth (do not describe) how each element impacts the plot, character development and/or themes. Your paragraphs should include strong textual evidence and thorough analysis.

Complete Citation Info

List films by their title. Include the name of the director, the distributor, and the release year. If relevant, list performer names after the director’s name. Use the abbreviation perf. to head the list. End the entry with the appropriate medium of publication (e.g. DVD, VHS, Laser disc).
